Milan, Feb. 6 (LaPresse) – Paragon Solutions, whose military-grade hacking software was allegedly used to spy on over 90 individuals, including journalists and members of civil society across dozens of countries, has terminated its client relationship with Italy.
This was revealed to The Guardian by a person familiar with the matter.
The decision to end the contract with Italy was made following revelations that Luca Casarini, head of mission and co-founder of Mediterranea, and Francesco Cancellato, director of Fanpage, had been targeted by the spyware.
The source, who spoke to The Guardian on condition of anonymity, added that Paragon had initially suspended its contract with Italy "out of an abundance of caution" when the first allegations of potential misuse of the spyware surfaced last Friday.
The decision to fully terminate the contract was made yesterday, after Paragon determined that Italy had violated the terms of service and the ethical framework agreed upon in the contract.
