This was stated by Alberto Gusmeroli, president of the Chamber of Deputies' Production Activities Committee, in a press conference at Montecitorio, responding to a question about coverage for the bill decree, the tax amnesty, and the income tax reduction. "I am an incurable optimist, and I am convinced that it can be done and is being done," he stated. "We have the best finance minister in the world, and I am sure that, in addition to doing a great job, the same will be done for the long tax amnesty and the reduction of the income tax rate. I am confident that resources will be found for everything." Regarding the tax amnesty, he said, "the figures released so far refer to previous amnesties; this is something completely new" and "should be viewed in a totally different way. The previous four amnesties had a very high upfront payment, and as a result, many people failed to pay." "Only in 2024, the amount declared by citizens but not collected by the State rose by 68 billion, so as Secretary Matteo Salvini said, it is a national emergency," he concluded.
