Rome, Feb. 28 (LaPresse) – The National Secretary of Codacons, Francesco Tanasi, has sent an official letter to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, asking for concrete and structural interventions to protect citizens and businesses, now crushed by the unsustainable weight of electricity and gas bills. ‘We cannot continue with buffer measures that last only a few months and do not solve the problem at its root,’ Tanasi says. ’The high energy bill is a structural issue that requires decisive intervention by the government to stop speculation on the market, reduce taxation, and guarantee sustainable rates for Italian families. Today, users are forced to pay bills that are among the highest in Europe, with taxes and system charges weighing up to 30% on gas bills and over 20% on electricity bills. An unsustainable situation, which risks further aggravating the country's economic crisis’.Codacons asks Premier Meloni for an immediate confrontation to define effective intervention strategies, capable of countering unjustified increases and guaranteeing a fair and sustainable energy system. ’The protection of citizens must be a priority for the Government. We need structural measures to reduce the impact of high energy bills, without limiting ourselves to temporary solutions that do not solve the current energy crisis,’ Tanasi concludes. – concludes Tanasi.
