Milan, 6 March (LaPresse) – ‘The Istat estimates published today are the authoritative confirmation of the incredible strength of Italian tourism, which has reached a new record in 2024, with 458.4 million presences, an increase of +2.5% over the previous year’. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè, commenting on the provisional Istat data on the performance of the tourism sector in 2024. ‘Our country consolidates its role as a privileged destination at world level, surpassing France and taking second place in Europe for number of tourist presences, preceded only by Spain. This is another historic result, which fills us with pride and testifies to the quality and appeal of our tourist offer, which is able to fascinate and attract visitors from all over the world,’ adds Santanchè. ‘In fact, the more than 250 million foreign presences mark an increase of 6.8% over 2023 and relaunch Italy as a reference point for foreign travellers, going hand in hand with the great international credibility we have regained thanks to the work of the Meloni government. If we have achieved such goals, it is certainly not by chance: the credit,' Santanchè continues, ’goes to the commitment and resilience of entrepreneurs and operators in the sector, whom I will never cease to thank, together with the targeted policies and the continuous focus on quality, sustainability and diversification of the tourism offer.
