Milan, April 9 (LaPresse) – The Milan Stock Exchange closed sharply lower, following the escalation between the U.S. and China over tariffs. The FTSE MIB dropped 2.75% to 32,730.57 points, reaching levels last seen in February 2024. Only Iveco (+0.04%) closed higher, while there were significant losses for Saipem (-7.42%), Recordati (-5.53%), Eni (-5.52%), Tenaris (-5.51%), Stellantis (-5.46%), A2A (-4.76%), Campari (-4.67%), Interpump (-4.38%), and Generali (-4.25%). Losses were also seen across all European stock exchanges: the DAX in Frankfurt dropped 2.89%, the CAC 40 in Paris lost 3.34%, and the FTSE 100 in London fell 2.99%.
