Rome, 9 June (LaPresse) – A meeting between the government and trade unions on the former Ilva plant in Taranto was held today at Palazzo Chigi, chaired by the Undersecretary to the Prime Minister, Alfredo Mantovano. During the meeting, according to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, the government confirmed its full commitment at all levels to relaunching the steel industry and protecting jobs. The Executive also clarified that negotiations for the sale of the former Ilva are continuing with ongoing discussions and assured financial coverage for the continuation of the company's activities through a decree law. The current conditions for the benefit of the Cig (wage guarantee fund) have been confirmed.
