Rome, 20 June (LaPresse) – Rome Fiumicino Airport has been named the best in Europe for the seventh time since 2018 in the category of airports with over 40 million passengers. This was announced yesterday evening in Athens by the international trade association ACI (Airport Council International) Europe during its 35th General Assembly, where each year the “Best Airport Award” is presented to airports that have distinguished themselves for the excellence of their staff, digital transformation, technological innovation and the eco-sustainability of their airport infrastructure. The assessments were carried out by an independent jury composed of eight institutional representatives from the European aviation sector. Among the reasons cited by the jury for awarding the Roman airport the prize again this year were its continuous pursuit of operational excellence and its commitment to green transition, with the inauguration last January of the largest self-consumption photovoltaic plant at a European airport.
