San Francisco, June 26 (LaPresse) – A U.S. federal judge ruled in favor of Meta Platforms, Facebook’s parent company, dismissing a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by a group of authors who accused the company of stealing their works to “train” its artificial intelligence technology. This ruling is the second in one week by a federal court in San Francisco to reject major copyright claims by book authors against the rapidly growing AI industry. However, the judge also stated that the ruling is limited to the authors involved in the case and does not imply that Meta’s use of copyrighted materials is lawful.
