Milan, 27 June (LaPresse) – In June 2025, Istat estimates a decrease in the consumer confidence index (from 96.5 to 96.1), while the composite business confidence index rises from 93.1 to 93.9. All the components of the consumer confidence index are deteriorating, except for assessments and expectations regarding the general economic situation and expectations regarding unemployment, according to Istat. The four indicators calculated monthly from the same components show mixed changes: the economic climate rose from 97.5 to 99.6; the future climate remained stable at 93.7, while the personal and current climate declined from 96.1 to 94.8 and from 98.6 to 97.9, respectively. With regard to businesses, confidence improved in all sectors except retail trade. In particular, the confidence index rose in manufacturing (from 86.6 to 87.3), market services (from 94.5 to 95.6) and construction (from 102.1 to 103.4). Conversely, retail trade recorded a decline (from 102.8 to 101.9) due to the deterioration of the index in large-scale distribution. As for the components of the confidence indices, according to Istat estimates, in manufacturing, assessments of orders declined, while expectations for production improved and inventories were assessed as declining.
