Milan, 5 July (LaPresse) – "Summer 2025 is off to a good start for tourism: 30.5 million Italians will choose to take at least one holiday during the summer months, an increase of 1.5 million compared to last year. Total spending is expected to exceed €35 billion, reflecting Italians' renewed confidence and desire to get back on track. After years marked by caution and uncertainty, especially in domestic demand, domestic tourism is once again playing its fundamental role, after months and months of significant delay compared to the recovery of international tourism." These are the main figures emerging from the Focus on Italians' summer holidays by the Confcommercio Tourism Observatory in collaboration with SWG. According to Confcommercio, 91% of Italians will plan trips within Italy, while 9% will holiday exclusively abroad. However, between long holidays, short breaks and mini-breaks, everyone will travel twice during the four-month period, with August remaining the most popular month for trips of seven days or more, with 11.2 million departures. It should be noted, however, that July is the month with the largest increase in departures for long holidays compared to last year: 800,000 more. Italians are therefore increasingly able to organise themselves to take a long break from work and family commitments even in the hottest month, not just in August.
