Milan, 3 August (LaPresse) – ‘Support must also be given to workers, not just businesses’ and to find the resources ‘big tech, rents and profits must be taxed, certainly not money taken from the NRRP or cohesion funds’. This was stated by CGIL leader Maurizio Landini in an interview with La Stampa, announcing a double mobilisation at European level against the Commission's austerity policies and at national level to continue the battle for referendums. On tariffs, ‘there has never been any negotiation. In reality, Europe has made a dangerous concession, both because of what the United States has imposed on us and because this also calls into question the very role of Europe and its ability to assert a different political, economic and social model.’ ‘Not only are we taking home 15% tariffs, which, among other things, are compounded by a sharp devaluation of the dollar, but we also have an obligation to buy their gas, without yet knowing what the price and quantity will be, and therefore with a risk of higher energy costs for businesses and households,’ he stresses.
