Milan, Aug. 7 (LaPresse) – “Just a few days before Ferragosto, Italian agritourism facilities are expected to be fully booked. Nonetheless, summer 2025 presents a mixed picture for the sector.” This is what emerges from the latest data by Agriturist (Confagricoltura), which reports that “the season's trend shows the resilience of the sector despite a difficult overall context, highlighting the need to adapt to new travel habits.” “The dominant trend is the shortening of stays, with bookings of just two or three nights at most, and a rise in ‘hit-and-run’ holidays,” said Agriturist president Augusto Congionti. “Bookings are increasingly last-minute, making it difficult for businesses to plan and manage their offerings efficiently. This dynamic affects the entire tourism industry, from agritourism to hotels.”
According to Agriturist, the main clientele consists of families (68%) and foreign tourists (around a quarter of the total), with a growing trend. Natural beauty and cultural heritage are the most sought-after attractions across different regions. As for domestic tourist flows, the sector is facing some difficulties, primarily due to the declining purchasing power of households.
Since 2019, tourist stays in Italy have increased by 8.3%, placing the country second in Europe after Spain, which recorded an 11.2% rise.
