Rome, 29 August (LaPresse) – 8.5 million Italians have chosen to spend at least part of their summer holidays in September, taking advantage of the so-called low season, which is favourable in terms of prices, as well as reduced crowds in the main holiday resorts. This is what emerges from a Coldiretti/Ixè analysis on the last red-flag weekend of the summer for the return from holiday, which sees the majority of holidaymakers returning to the cities and the last departures for holidays on the roads. “With the end of August, prices fall by up to 30% on travel, accommodation and leisure activities, which is a particularly attractive opportunity for those who do not want to give up travelling but want to save money,” Coldiretti points out. Although the seaside remains the favourite destination, there is growing interest in nature tourism, with more travellers attracted to mountains, parks and the countryside, where they can enjoy typical September experiences such as grape harvesting or walks in the woods in search of porcini, chanterelle and black trumpet mushrooms. The mushroom season is proving particularly fruitful for enthusiasts."
