Milan, 13 September (LaPresse) – Holidays continue into the second half of September, which is proving to be the month of conscious holidays: over 10 million Italians choose this period to treat themselves to one or more holidays, with an average spend of €600 per person, up 3% on the previous year. Thirty-five per cent of travellers prefer this period because it is less crowded and prices are more affordable, while a further 18% prefer it because of the wealth of local events, from festivals to shows and cultural events. The majority, around 6.4 million, opt for short stays of up to two nights; 1.8 million choose holidays of up to five nights, while departures for longer trips, of at least a week, reach 2.2 million. The latter type mainly involves those who consider September to be the highlight of their summer.
