Milan, 14 September (LaPresse) – ‘First of all, I would like to emphasise that we do not control MPS, as some people mistakenly believe. We have fallen below the control percentage as required by the European Commission’. This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, speaking at the UDC national party conference currently underway in Rome. "It is clear that the banking system must consolidate, bearing in mind the challenge that is coming and will continue to come with the arrival of giants such as Amazon and others, who will compete for a market they consider theirs. On the other hand, however, they must consider that they were created in some way to serve the real economy, to support it. As a government, we are interested in them continuing to provide credit, especially to those in need, small and medium-sized enterprises," the MEF minister then emphasised.
