Rome, 24 September. (LaPresse) – ‘I have no political objections, I have a law that I must enforce, just as I have enforced it on others, I will enforce it on them. There is a law and it applies to everyone.’ This was how Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti responded to those who asked him if he had any political objections to a possible merger between Credit Agricole Italia and Banco BPM as he arrived at the Senate. Does he also envisage using the golden power? ‘I am referring precisely to the law’ on the golden power, ‘it is in the Official Gazette,’ Giorgetti replied. Has he already made any assessments? ‘No, because the operation does not exist, so how can I make any assessments?’
