Rome, 29 September. (LaPresse) – ‘An urgent meeting is needed at Palazzo Chigi on the former Ilva to take stock of the situation and avoid a break-up that would be devastating for Ilva and for the country.’ This was stated by Michele De Palma, secretary general of Fiom, on the sidelines of the presentation of the research by the Fiom-Cgil national study centre “Stellantis: the great escape from Italy” in Rome. ‘We need a recovery phase with public guarantees and resources to keep the plants running,’ he continued. ‘We cannot go and notify workers to offload the company's shortcomings onto them. To date, a blast furnace is still under seizure. There are things that do not add up in this country.’
