Employment: Italy is short of over 2 million green profiles

Milan, 13 October (LaPresse) – Alarm bells ringing for green skills in the world of work. In 2024, Italian companies were unable to find over 2 million workers with qualifications related to sustainability and energy saving. This was reported by Confartigianato: out of over 4.4 million planned hires with green skills, almost half were difficult to find. President Marco Granelli warns: ‘We risk a green transition without green workers.’ The shortage is most acute in small businesses and the craft sector: here, over 60% of the profiles required are impossible to find, especially in regions such as Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Umbria. Granelli reiterates the urgent need for an alliance between schools, technical training and businesses, calling for incentives to hire young people trained in the environment, renewable energy and digitalisation.
