Budget, Leo: ‘Yes to changes, but without altering the accounts’

Rome, 15 Nov. (LaPresse) – " Yes to changes, the budget can certainly be improved in the Chamber, but without altering the accounts.‘ So said Deputy Minister for the Economy Maurizio Leo (FdI) in an interview with Corriere della Sera. ’I don't remember a budget, from any government, that hasn't upset someone. Everyone would like the best for the category they represent, but the government has preferred to move in the direction of common sense, as always. We have intervened on income tax rates to help the middle class, without forgetting employees with lower incomes, allocating £2.1 billion. We have lightened the tax burden on productivity bonuses, decriminalised meal vouchers and incentivised contract renewals. For businesses, there is hyper-amortisation, which Confindustria itself has been clamouring for. And it is no coincidence that just yesterday, President Emanuele Orsini spoke of a “fair and useful measure”,‘ he adds. A total of 5,742 amendments have been tabled, including 1,600 by the majority groups. Which measures could be amended? ’Our Constitution is clear: Parliament is sovereign. Therefore, if the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate amend any measures, we will have no choice but to comply. The important thing is that everything is done without changing the balance and with common sense, because Italy cannot afford to take a leap in the dark. Respecting these limits, we are open, for example, to evaluating corrections to the tax regime for dividends from investee companies," he replies.
