Strait Bridge: new halt by the Court of Auditors

Rome, 17 November (LaPresse) – New halt by the Court of Auditors to the project for the Bridge over the Strait of Messina. The accounting magistrate has in fact denied the legitimacy of the third additional act to the agreement between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the company Stretto di Messina Spa. "The Central Legality Control Section, following the outcome of the Council Chamber meeting held today, 17 November 2025, did not approve and consequently register Decree No. 190 of 1 August 2025, issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, adopted pursuant to Article 2, paragraph 8, of Decree-Law No. 35 of 31 March 2023, converted, with amendments, by Law No. 58 of 26 May 2023, containing “Urgent provisions for the construction of a permanent link between Sicily and Calabria”. Approval of the third addendum to the agreement of 30 December 2003, No. 3077, between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the company Stretto di Messina spa', reads a note from the Court. The reasons, currently being drafted, will be made known within thirty days, with a specific resolution.
