Milan, 25 November (LaPresse) – ‘When you come to power, you stroke the fur of those who are better off, not those who are worse off. Italian citizens, workers and pensioners need to know this. Because this government is actually worsening their condition, which is why we have called a general strike on Friday 12 December’. This was stated by the general secretary of the CGIL trade union, Maurizio Landini, interviewed by Giovanni Floris on diMartedì on La7. ‘People who go on strike give up their wages, it doesn't matter if it's Monday or Tuesday. We are calling a general strike because we say enough is enough to policies that only affect employees. We are demanding wage increases and real tax reform,’ he continued. “Public healthcare is a right that must be guaranteed, so that's where you have to invest if you want to help people in a concrete way. They are not doing this, and that is why we must strike and take to the streets,” he added.
