Rome, Dec. 28 (LaPresse) – “The launch of the CSG-FM3 satellite has been postponed by 24 hours due to an issue with the ground infrastructure,” announced the Italian Space Agency (ASI) via social media. The launch had been scheduled for 3:09 a.m. Italian time from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The Italian CSG-FM3 satellite, developed through collaboration between ASI, the Ministry of Defense, and the national industry, is the third second-generation satellite of the COSMO-SkyMed radar constellation. It will ensure continuity of observations between the first and second generations of satellites and strengthen Italy’s national Earth observation capabilities.

The launch is now scheduled for 3:09 a.m. Italian time tomorrow. In a statement, ASI specified that “the launch of the third satellite of the COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation constellation has been postponed by 24 hours due to technical problems with ground systems and is therefore not related to the satellite itself, which remains integrated on the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle on the pad.”
