Milan, 28 April (LaPresse) – ‘Whilst maintaining an autonomous and independent role as the ultimate authority responsible for the quality of the data produced, Istat also performs a coordinating and synthesising function amongst the various national institutions involved, in various capacities, in the production of public finance data (such as the Bank of Italy and the Ministry of Economy and Finance – MEF), ensuring consistency between the various national data sources’. This was stated by the President of Istat, Francesco Maria Chelli, during a hearing on the Public Finance Document before the joint Budget Committees of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. “The process of validation of the public finance accounts produced by Istat by the EU institutions,” emphasised Chelli, “follows procedures and timelines dictated by European regulations.”
