Rome, 8 May (LaPresse) – Following the success of the investment in Leapmotor and the Leapmotor International (“LPMI”) joint venture led by Stellantis, Stellantis and Leapmotor have announced in a statement their intention to expand their strategic partnership with the aim of: "Increase production at the Stellantis plant in Zaragoza, Opel’s historic manufacturing site, where a brand-new electric Opel C-SUV would be built on a new production line alongside Leapmotor’s B10 C-SUV model. Enable the new Opel C-SUV, produced in Zaragoza, to benefit from components made available by the LPMI ecosystem, thereby enhancing its affordability. Expand LPMI’s joint procurement initiatives to increase Stellantis’ affordability in Europe and accelerate time-to-market for new models. Strengthen the future of the Stellantis plant in Villaverde, Madrid, which would be assigned future Leapmotor products for the European and global markets, with various models produced in accordance with ‘Made in Europe’ requirements, with the intention of transferring ownership of the plant to LPMI’s Spanish subsidiary.
