Fuel, Giorgetti: ‘Decree to cut excise duties until the first week of June’

Trento, 21 May (LaPresse) – "I set off for Cyprus with a fairly clear outline of the measure; they are now fine-tuning it. I believe that tomorrow we will see a decree-law on excise duties containing measures to support road haulage and local public transport. We are seeking to extend the excise duty cuts until the first week of June. We are also seeking to take action regarding the former Ilva site in Taranto. A stopgap measure; then we will see if the deadlock in negotiations with the EU is broken.” This was stated by the Minister for the Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, speaking at the Trento Economics Festival via video link from Cyprus, where an informal Eurogroup meeting is currently taking place.
