Roma, March 3 (LaPresse) – Paolo Genovese's FolleMente continues to impress the Italian audience, raking in box office earnings (9,045,181 according to Cinetel data), achieving the second-best opening weekend for an Italian film post-pandemic and reaching the milestone of 1,243,978 attendees. Released on February 20 and still at the top of the box office, FolleMente – based on an original idea by Genovese, who co-wrote the script with Isabella Aguilar, Lucia Calamaro, Paolo Costella, and Flaminia Gressi – confirms itself as the cinematic event of the year during its second weekend of screening. Genovese brought together a cast of some of the leading actors in this season of Italian cinema: Edoardo Leo, Pilar Fogliati, Emanuela Fanelli, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Claudia Pandolfi, Vittoria Puccini, Marco Giallini, Maurizio Lastrico, Rocco Papaleo, and Claudio Santamaria. "The beautiful film by Paolo Genovese continues to run in Italian cinemas," said Luigi Lonigro, director of 01 Distribution. "With theaters packed from north to south, FolleMente had an overwhelming second weekend, marked by Carnival parades and mask parties. And the journey continues, as the number of screens showing the film grows for its third week," he added. FolleMente is produced by Raffaella Leone and Andrea Leone, a Lotus Production, a company of Leone Film Group, with Rai Cinema and in collaboration with Disney+ in association with Vice Pictures. The film was made with the contribution of the Cinema and Audiovisual Investment Development Fund.
