Naples, March 13 (LaPresse) – Phrases like "Vesuvius erupts" and "we have a dream in our hearts," slogans often chanted in stadiums with anti-Naples sentiment, have resurfaced in comments on social media posts and newspaper articles about the 4.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei area overnight. Many users have reported the presence of racist remarks, similar to those seen during previous crises related to the area's bradyseism.

One of the first to publicly respond was Neapolitan rapper Geolier, originally from the Secondigliano district but now living in Pozzuoli, near the Solfatara volcano. "I can’t stay silent while reading comments like 'Hopefully, it happens soon' or other tasteless jokes about the earthquake," Geolier wrote on Instagram.

"People here have had to leave their homes where they raised their children, spent their lives, and built their dreams—now crumbling. There are people who are scared, living in their cars, or keeping their suitcases ready in case they need to flee. If this doesn’t affect you, please stay silent instead of commenting. Stadium chants and small provocations used to make us laugh, but not anymore. Have the humility to admire us this time too, as we face something bigger than us and keep winning," the rapper concluded.
