Throughout their career, the band explored a range of genres from punk to new wave to disco. The American musician passed away due to cancer, the band said in a statement without providing further details. “Clem was not just a drummer, he was the heartbeat of Blondie,” the group stated. “His talent, energy, and passion for music were unmatched, and his contribution to our sound and success is immeasurable.” In 2006, Burke and the other original members of Blondie were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
