San Diego (California, United States), 23 May (LaPresse) – Among the victims of yesterday's plane crash near San Diego (California) was Dave Shapiro (42), one of America's leading music producers. Shapiro's death was confirmed by the music agency Sound Talent Group, which he co-founded in 2018 with Tim Borror and Matt Andersen. His clients included Hanson, Pierce The Veil, Parkway Drive, Sum 41 and Vanessa Carlton. ‘We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, our colleagues and our friends,’ read a statement from the agency, which represented the interests of major pop-punk, metal and hard rock bands. Shapiro grew up in New York State and also owned an airline. Tributes poured in from musicians who described him as warm, genuine and someone who helped little-known bands get noticed. Shapiro had a pilot's licence and, according to the US Federal Aviation Administration, was the owner of the aircraft that crashed. In 2012, he was included in the “30 under 30” list, which recognises rising stars in entertainment.
