Rome, July 30 (LaPresse) – Paul Mario Day, the very first frontman of Iron Maiden, has died at the age of 69. He was later succeeded by Paul Di’Anno and then by current vocalist Bruce Dickinson.

The news was shared on the British band’s social media: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Mario Day, Iron Maiden’s first singer back in 1975. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Paul’s family and friends. Paul was a lovely person and a great companion. Rest in peace, Paul.”

Day was a beloved figure in British rock music and performed in many memorable shows, including the legendary 1981 Monsters of Rock concert at Castle Donington with AC/DC, Whitesnake/David Coverdale, and others. He also toured with Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and many other legendary artists.
