Graham Greene, Oscar nominee for “Dances with Wolves”, dies at 73

Graham Greene, Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as “Kicking Bird” in the 1990 film “Dances with Wolves”, has died at the age of 73. ‘It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of award-winning and legendary Canadian actor Graham Greene,’ his manager Gerry Jordan said in a statement to CBC News. The broadcaster reported that the actor of Oneida descent, a symbol of Native Americans in cinema in the 1980s and 1990s, died of natural causes. Before embarking on his acting career, Greene worked as a draftsman, civil engineer, steelworker and member of a rock band. After his success in “Dances with Wolves”, Greene also starred in “The Green Mile”, “Die Hard”, “Maverick” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”. During his illustrious career, he received numerous awards, including the Earle Grey Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Canadian Film and Television in 2004. In 2016, he was inducted into the Order of Canada, the country's second highest civilian honour.
