Rome, 14 November (LaPresse) – ‘Singers and songs created with artificial intelligence entering the world of music with a bang? As far as creativity is concerned, I consider artificial intelligence to be theft, in the sense that it may be important for science, but for music it is theft.’ This is how Mogol commented to LaPresse on the advent of generative AI in music. ‘How can we curb this phenomenon?’ Mogol suggests. ‘We need to recognise what has been stolen because AI does nothing more than reproduce what someone else has done. If someone takes something that someone else has done, they are committing misappropriation, which is theft.’
