I am fine now, I have already forgiven those who hurt me.’ These were the first words spoken on Rai1's Storie Italiane with Eleonora Daniele by Paolo, the young man from Albenga who became quadriplegic after being punched during an attempted robbery of his scooter in May 2024. ‘When he arrived here, Paolo communicated with his eyes in a vegetative state,’ said the doctor at the rehabilitation centre. ‘The daily work of our staff, the family who has always been there, and Paolo's strong determination were the ingredients of this incredible recovery that was beyond the norm. This is a sign of hope. Let's see what the future holds.’ Next to him was his sister Rossella: ‘There would be so many things to say, but today the message is certainly clear and strong: don't give up, always look for the positive side,’ she explained. ‘Paolo gives us a positive message of hope.
