Rome, 26 December (LaPresse) – ‘It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of our great friend and bandmate Perry Bamonte, who died after a short illness at his home during the Christmas holidays.’ The Cure announced this on their official website. ‘Quiet, intense, intuitive, consistent and extremely creative, “Teddy” was a vital and fundamental part of The Cure's history,’ the band recalls. 'Taking care of the band' from 1984 to 1989, he became a full member of The Cure in 1990, playing guitar, six-string bass and keyboards on Wish, Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, and again on Acoustic Hits and The Cure, as well as playing in more than 400 concerts over 14 years." 'He rejoined The Cure in 2022, playing in another 90 concerts, some of the best in the band's history, culminating in the “A Lost World” concert in London on 1 November 2024. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his entire family. We will miss him dearly,' concludes the statement posted on the website.
