Rome, 19 March (LaPresse) – Following the success of last year’s sold-out world tour celebrating *Horses* – which sold out in Italy within just a few hours of tickets going on sale – Patti Smith returns to Italy for another special event: to celebrate her 80th birthday with the Italian public. The event is scheduled for 27 July 2026, at one of Rome’s most evocative venues, the Circo Massimo. The concert is organised by the Teatro dell’Opera in collaboration with Vincenzo Berti and Gianluca Bonanno for Ventidieci, produced by Imarts-International Music and Arts. Accompanied by the Patti Smith Quartet, the singer-songwriter will be joined by keyboardist and bassist Tony Shanahan, her collaborator for over thirty years, guitarist Jackson Smith, Patti’s son, and Seb Rochford on drums. A setlist featuring all the anthemic songs that have defined the global music scene, with Patti’s unmistakable voice and those poetic verses that bring to mind key figures such as Arthur Rimbaud and Baudelaire, who have been so significant to her since her debut. Patti Smith has a gift for evoking ancestral imagery infused with a visceral energy that radiates from the stage, and it is precisely through this intensity that she expresses her love for rock, freedom of expression, writing and poetry in a single whirlwind of emotion. Among the most famous tracks to be performed will be ‘Horses’, ‘Easter’, ‘Dancing Barefoot’, ‘People Have the Power’ and ‘Because the Night’. And just as she sings in the famous lyrics of ‘Dancing Barefoot’, Patti Smith continues to move with energy and passion on stages all over the world.
