Cinema: Mario Adorf dies at 95; he worked with Risi and Argento

Rome, April 9. (LaPresse) – Mario Adorf, one of the iconic actors of Swiss cinema who had also worked with Italian directors, from Dino Risi ('Operation San Gennaro' alongside Nino Manfredi), to Dario Argento ('The Bird with the Crystal Plumage'), to Luigi Comencini ('The Adventures of Pinocchio'), has died at the age of 95. The death, confirmed to Bild by his manager Michael Stark, occurred at his Parisian home. Adorf, who had been ill for some time, was found lifeless in his bed by his wife Monique, who remained by his side until the end. Throughout his career he has also worked with actors such as Sean Connery and Claudia Cardinale. Since the 1980s he had been interested in television, appearing in successful series such as 'La piovra 4', 'Marco Polo', 'Fantaghirò', 'Il ritorno del piccolo Lord' and in numerous German productions, often unreleased in Italy.
