Music, Francesca Michielin releases new single “Strega”

Rome, June 3 (LaPresse) – “Strega Comanda” is born from one of the most iconic childhood games in Italy. It is the new single by Francesca Michielin, out on June 5 on all digital platforms via Columbia Records / Sony Music Italy and accompanied by an official music video. The single follows the announcement of “Magia Bianca”, the new record project due out on June 12, which introduces a new artistic imagery and opens an unprecedented chapter in the singer-songwriter’s career. A title that immediately evokes a shared memory made of colours, imagination and freedom, which in the song is transformed into a powerful contemporary metaphor of identity and the ability to choose who to be. Revisiting one of the most recognisable childhood rituals, Francesca reinterprets the figure of the “witch”, freeing it from its traditional role. No longer the one who sets the rules of the game, but a symbol of those who take their own story into their hands, go through change and choose their own colours without asking anyone for permission. The single is part of the new album “Magia Bianca”, a concept-driven project both in form and themes, blending dungeon synth, medieval atmospheres and 1980s influences with stories of ladies and witches reflecting contemporary life. Accompanying “Strega Comanda” is the official music video shot during the MI AMI Festival, where Francesca Michielin surprised the audience by appearing on stage under the pseudonym Costanza D’Este. An unexpected debut through which the artist previewed the new project with an original sonic and visual imagery.
