Bolzano, 6 August (LaPresse) – On 6 August, by presidential order, the Administrative Court of Bolzano temporarily suspended the authorisation granted by the President of the Province for the culling of two wolves in Alta Val Venosta. The decision was taken following an appeal lodged by several animal rights organisations against the measure. On 30 July, the President of the Province, Arno Kompatscher, had authorised the culling of two wolves in Val Venosta. Both the Provincial Wildlife Observatory and the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) had expressed a favourable opinion on the culling of two wolves (read the USP press release). All wolf culling activities by the forestry authority have now been temporarily suspended. The hearing before the president of the Administrative Court is scheduled for 8 August. The presidential decision will be issued by 9 August, and its confirmation or revocation will be discussed on 9 September 2025.
