Naples, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – The Perugia Review Court has rejected the appeal filed by the prosecutor who had requested house arrest for former Anti-Mafia deputy prosecutor Antonio Laudati and financier Pasquale Striano. The two are under investigation by the Perugia Prosecutor’s Office as part of an inquiry into alleged dossiers on VIPs and politicians and unauthorized access to databases.
In its decision, the court ruled out the need for precautionary measures concerning the risk of evidence tampering. Specifically, the lawyers Andrea Castaldo and Maria Elena Castaldo, who represent Laudati, noted that the Perugia Review Court "found the urgency requirement to be nonexistent and significantly emphasized that both Dr. Laudati's retirement and the absence of potentially manipulative actions regarding the evidence rule out any urgency that would justify the adoption of precautionary measures."
"We believe," the lawyers added, "that today's decision further confirms the full legality of Councillor Laudati's actions. Expressing full confidence in the work of the judges, we are convinced that the subsequent stages of the proceedings will clarify all aspects of this case."
