Milan, 15 Feb (LaPresse) – Carla Gatto, Giulia Cecchettin's grandmother and mother of Gino Cecchettin, has died. The news was announced by her son with a post on social media in which he quoted a piece from Simone Cristicchi's song ‘Quando sarai piccola’, dedicated to his mother. Also greeting the woman was lawyer Nicodemo Gentile, who represented Elena Cecchettin at the trial of Filippo Turetta, sentenced to life imprisonment for the feminicide of Giulia. ‘Dear Carla, sweet grandmother, what a blow. What an important woman you were, true, determined. Responses and demeanour always composed, appropriate, ironic. Wounded to death by Giulia's affair, despite inhuman pain, you were always close to your loved ones,’ reads the lawyer's social media.’ At the trial you did not miss a single hearing, always dignified, behind us, next to your children, always protecting them,‘ continues the lawyer who remembers her “among the ”clean’ people I will always carry in my heart’. Gatto, 76, died yesterday of an illness after feeling ill a few days earlier. A writer and painter, she had dedicated the book ‘Con lo zaino in spalla’ (With a rucksack on my back) to her niece, killed on 11 November 2023 in Fossò by her ex-boyfriend.
