Vatican City, February 18 (LaPresse) – "The laboratory tests, chest X-ray, and the clinical conditions of the Holy Father continue to present a complex picture. The polymicrobial infection, arising from a condition of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, which required the use of corticosteroid and antibiotic therapy, makes the therapeutic treatment more complex." This was announced by the Vatican Press Office in the bulletin regarding Pope Francis' health condition. "The chest CT scan, which the Holy Father underwent this afternoon – as prescribed by the Vatican medical team and the medical team of the 'A. Gemelli' Polyclinic Foundation – showed the onset of bilateral pneumonia, which has required additional pharmacological therapy."
