Milan, 22 Feb. (LaPresse) – Is there renewed talk of Pope Francis' resignation? ‘They all seem to me useless speculation. Now we are thinking about the Holy Father's health, his recovery, his return to the Vatican: these are the only things that matter’. Thus Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, in an interview with ‘Corriere della Sera’. ‘I let him know that I am available to meet with him if he deems it necessary, but so far there has been no need. In this regard, it is better that he remain protected and have as few visits as possible, so that he can rest and thus make the therapies he is undergoing more effective. Thank God, the news coming from Gemelli is encouraging, he is recovering. They have sent him paperwork and that means he is progressing well,' he adds. In recent days there have been false news and scares, there is renewed talk of ‘crows’ around the Vatican. ‘Honestly, I have to say that I do not know if there are such manoeuvres and I try, in any case, to stay out of it. On the other hand, I think it is quite normal that in these situations uncontrolled rumours can spread or some offhand comment is made: it is certainly not the first time it has happened. However, I do not think that there is any particular movement, and so far I have not heard anything like that,' Parolin emphasised.
