Palermo, March 4 (LaPresse) – Sentenced to four years and eight months and one year of probation Martina Gentile, the daughter of Laura Bonafede, one of Matteo Messina Denaro's mistresses, on trial before the Palermo gup for aggravated aiding and abetting the mafia and procured failure to comply with the sentence. For the woman, a teacher like her mother, the Palermo DDA prosecutor Gianluca De Leo had asked for eight years' imprisonment. According to the public prosecutor's office, for years Martina Gentile was part of the magic circle that protected the fugitive of the last of the Corleone family. For the investigators, Martina Gentile would have been one of the key cogs in Messina Denaro's communication system. The boss himself had nicknamed her ‘Tan’ in code and had not spared her praise. In the dozens of ‘pizzini’ found in the boss's hideouts, investigators ascertained that the girl was raised as a daughter by Matteo Messina Denaro. Gentile's father is serving two life sentences for as many murders commissioned by the boss. Her mother, Laura Bonafede, was sentenced last November to 11 years and 4 months for mafia association.
