Willy Murder Case: Second appeal confirms life sentence for Marco Bianchi, 28 years for Gabriele

Rome, March 14 (LaPresse) – The judges of the Rome Court of Assizes of Appeal, in the second-degree retrial for the murder of Willy Monteiro Duarte, have confirmed the life sentence for Marco Bianchi. He was accused, along with his brother Gabriele, of killing the 21-year-old student at the climax of a brutal beating in Colleferro, a town in the province of Rome, on the night of September 6, 2020. The second appeal trial was held after the Court of Cassation definitively convicted all the defendants of voluntary manslaughter and ordered a new judgment regarding the mitigating circumstances that had previously been granted to the Bianchi brothers, reducing their sentences from life imprisonment to 24 years in the first appeal. However, these mitigating circumstances were recognized for Gabriele Bianchi, who was sentenced to 28 years.
