Willy’s Murder, Victim’s Mother: "Sentences Won’t Bring Him Back"

Rome, March 14 (LaPresse) – "I hope that the Bianchi brothers learn to respect others and ensure that no other family has to go through what we have endured. The sentences won’t bring Willy back. I hope these young men appreciate being alive, with a family that can still see them and hear their voices. All we have left of Willy is a photograph, and his voice is now just a distant memory." These were the words of Lucia Monteiro Duarte, the mother of Willy Monteiro Duarte, the student who was brutally beaten to death in Colleferro, a town near Rome, on the night of September 6, 2020. Today, in front of the Court of Appeal in Rome, the retrial confirmed a life sentence for Marco Bianchi, while his brother Gabriele was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
