Santanchè case, INPS: "Fully compensated, we will withdraw as civil party"

Rome, March 26 (LaPresse) – Regarding the Visibilia trial, INPS clarified that "the Institute had joined the proceedings as a civil party to seek compensation for financial damages, service disruption, and non-pecuniary damage, with the amount to be equitably determined by the Judge." The financial damage, "resulting from the illegitimate use of Covid furlough funds, was fully compensated during the trial by the two involved companies," according to an official statement. "Before today's hearing, the defendants' legal teams offered INPS full payment of the remaining damages, including the quantified service disruption damages and a fair amount for non-pecuniary damage, in line with what would likely have been awarded by the court. They also agreed to cover the civil party’s legal fees. Therefore, INPS's legal counsel informed the preliminary hearing judge that, having received full compensation for financial damages and finalized an agreement for the remaining damages, once the final payment is received, it will formally withdraw its civil party status." The statement concludes that INPS no longer has grounds to remain in the trial, as all claims have been satisfied.
