Rome, March 26 (LaPresse) – A tourist bus plunged into the Po River this afternoon in Turin, near Piazza Vittorio Veneto. The only person on board was the driver, who died. The accident occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the section in front of Piazza Vittorio Veneto, near the Grande Madre area. Before ending up in the water, the bus hit three pedestrians, who were taken to Molinette Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. According to firefighters, the driver was initially pulled from the water unconscious but alive, and later died. Divers are currently conducting checks to rule out the presence of other people involved. Having confirmed that the driver was alone at the time of the accident, authorities are now verifying that no bystanders were swept into the river due to the impact. To aid in the operation, two cranes are being used to lift the bus from the water.
