Rome, 28 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘There would have already been a ransom payment’. This is the phrase contained in one of the two unpublished documents relating to the Orlandi case published today by il Venerdì di Repubblica. The SISMI note is dated 27 July 1983, just over a month after the disappearance of the 15-year-old Vatican citizen. It mentions an ‘Arma source’ who, referring to the young woman's father, defines him as ‘a person with knowledge of “very important” news within the Vatican’. The second document, on the other hand, refers to a meeting that took place in the Vatican between Italian magistrates, including Domenico Sica, investigators such as Nicola Cavaliere and the then deputy, Monsignor Martinez Somalo, who ‘excludes’ the possibility that the Vatican could be in contact with the kidnappers or that it paid any ransom.
