Turin, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – Convictions for minor offences but the criminal organisation is dismissed ‘because the offence does not exist’. This is the decision arrived at today in Turin in the first degree trial involving 28 activists from the Askatasuna social centre: 16 of them were accused of criminal association. The reading of the sentence in the courtroom was met with cheers and applause from those present, while outside the court the activists celebrated with a long round of applause. ‘We are an association that resists’, the phrase shouted into the megaphone by the activists.
