Naples, April 2 (LaPresse) – In Turin, the State Police, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Turin Prosecutor's Office, is executing 8 precautionary measures, including house arrest and daily reporting requirements to the judicial police, issued by the investigating judge against eight individuals accused of aggravated resistance to public officials.
These individuals are activists from the Askatasuna social center, and the investigation conducted by the Digos (Special Investigations Division) of the Turin Police refers to events that took place on January 9, when around 500 demonstrators, after gathering in Piazza della Repubblica, held a march in solidarity for the death of Ramy Elgani. The marchers then reached the Dora Vanchiglia Police Station, vandalizing its walls and breaking windows, causing damages amounting to approximately €12,500.
During the same incident, there was a dense barrage of thrown objects, explosive devices, glass bottles, and stones directed at law enforcement officers, resulting in damages to service vehicles totaling around €18,000. Street sign poles and metal barricades were used, and the door of an armored vehicle, in which a soldier was located, was also opened. The demonstrators continued their march through the city center, reaching Piazza Carlina, where the Command of the Carabinieri Legions of Piedmont and Aosta Valley is located, and threw stones, bottles, fireworks, and other objects at the police again.
During the violent episodes, 4 officers from the Mobile Unit of Turin and one Carabinieri soldier were injured.
